“I can't praise Gillian Welch enough. And this is one of the best songs on "Hell among the Yearlings." In timbre, tempo and style it reminds me very much of Nick Cave and Johnny Cash's cover of Elvis Presley's "I'm So Lonesome I could Cry." Fans of Cash and Cave's more traditional work should give this a try.”

“Many of the songs on "Hell Among the Yearlings" are quiet and contemplative arrangements of traditional songs. "Honey Now" is an excellent contrast to these pieces. In this song Welch proves that Rockabilly also fits her like a glove. The guitar on this song is to die for.”

“A few weeks ago, a friend sang me a few traditional Ozark songs. I couldn't help but notice the similarities between the songs she sang and Gillian Welch's style, of which "Miner's Refrain" is a beautiful example. If you like Americana at its finest and beautiful traditional singing, Gillian Welch is your woman.”
