“Steve Benoit's album is sort of mis-categorized. It's not really rock, but more of country western in the vein of 'in the moment storytelling'. His choice of instruments to accompany his words varies quite a bit, but they fit the feel of each song quite well.
Most of his pieces are about the hardships of life and different milestone points, which ring true for a fair number of folks in the world these days, without resorting to 'I Lost my love, my truck, my home and my dog' types that many folks seem to think of when they talk about this kind of country music.
Country isn't my first choice in genre, but I think Steve Benoit is going to be one of the few country style albums on my playlist rotation.”
