rpmarkham
I am married with a son, Matt (born 1992) and live in a smallish town in the south of the UK. I commute about 30m to work for a small firm of accountants, but spend much of my spare time trawling for and listening to music. I also like watching football (support Reading FC), cinema and TV, a bit of gardening and DIY on our old house.
Favorite Artists
I love many artists but 10 of those I keep returning to are Catherine Feeny (my favourite singer), Daniel Ward-Murphy, Julia Marcell, Tom Petty, Ozzy Osbourne (as Blizzard of Oz) Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Wire, Can.

Too many to mention - give me a while and I may fill this in.

“Just had to be able to say I own "Transcendentalism is Like Wow" by The Curiously Strong Peppermints, however crap it might be. Pleasantly surprised with the bonus that it's really good. Maybe like if the Beatles had amalgamated with Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd to produce psych music that makes some sense.”

“Stream of consciousness on modern life set to a swirling minimal backing of strings piano and barely recognisable guitar. Hypnotic, a little disturbing and totally gripping. The first classical rap?”

“Combines drama and a delicate beauty.”

“Electric chamber music? The whole album sounds like a dream, with (mainly) slow, shimmering textures on cello, piano and treated guitars, ably complementing the silky, sensual vocals. Yet listen to the words and there is a violent poetic energy going on here. A fascinating and compelling sound which reminds me of other artists whilst being very much its own. Regina Spektor, Julia Marcell, Suzanne Vega come to mind.”
