mrteagarden's RECs (7)

“My favorite tune on this album next to Family Gun. Has a bit more of an edge, but still catchy as all hell. Picture book became the "hit" if you will, but mostly after the fact due to a commercial for digital cameras or something some ad hipster made. He has fine taste in early alternative music when it actually was an alternative to something.”

“Great catchy dark look at family values-lyrics akin to something E might have written had he been born 10 years earlier. YFF's Scotty Mac has played with REM for years now. The Seattle band that never truly caught on, but should have. When They Might Be Giants asked for their Young Fresh Fellows records back, you'll know what they meant.”

“Possibly only the 4th or 5th best song on this album but it'd top many other rappers best work. That's really sayin' something. Pharcyde never is any better than on their debut album. Just buy the whole thing and enjoy the experience.”

“Enjoy the tingling excitement you got as a teen from experiencing the Crue live without having to show up at a reunion show and realizing how pathetic and haggard you and everyone around you looks. Mick Mars still brings it despite his poor health and the sound quality is remarkably good. I cherry-picked the Shout at the Devil tunes, Livewire, Smokin' and Dr. Feelgood and don't feel dirty at all.”

“One of the best openings of any live album ever recorded. Withers and co. are so funky that the audience is clapping the entire time. The icing on the cake: after they've played the song once, Bill introduces the band and plays the song in its entirety for a second time!”

“these girls fall like DOMINOS, DOMINOS -- so catchy”

“a nice build beginning with Kingsmen-esque 60s pop and ending in expansive psychedelic noise rock.”

“light, nonsensical indie-pop. stuck in my head pretty much all the time”
