“How does so much good music come out of Sweden?
Perhaps it means I'm getting older, but I'm finding that more and more lately, I like my pop to sound a bit New Wave-ish. Lies is right up my alley: somewhat brooding lyrics sung with a smooth voice over a backdrop of sweet synths and cool guitar riffs. Yes, they're great synthpop melodies with a slight European feel, but not as hollow sounding and feeling as say, Duran Duran and their peers. Yes, the sound is a throwback to the 80's, but it doesn't sound dated. There's a modern edge to it all that makes it sound fresh despite the new wave elements. Highly recommended if you like Sisters of Mercy, New Order or Depeche Mode.”

“I truly miss Cocteau Twins. However, artists like Autumn's Grey Solace help to fill that void for me. The delicate, layered guitars swirl around, beautiful vocals float over the top and through the sounds. Sometimes ethereal, sometimes brooding, but always beautiful.”
