Favorite Songs

Back in the early 80's (yeah, I'm that old) a Boston band called The Make recorded an EP called Democracy, on which appeared a great track called "Amy's Home Tonight". I've been walking in the wilderness for over 20 years trying to find a copy of that song... Anybody else know what I'm talking about? *** Update *** Lowell, MA is officially The Best Place On Earth. Downtown, on Central Street, there's a record store called RRRecords. (You can deal with them over the net at rrrecords.com, cuz the shop's not always open). Ask for Ron. He not only had the EP, he knew exactly where it was in the stacks to pull it out and hand it to me. And the price was very right, too. Amazing.

“One of the most compelling proofs that a great song can be great no matter how it's arranged and delivered. This one takes no back seat to any original, no matter how clearly we might remember it. When the chorus comes around on the guitar, and the backing vocals swell behind her, Carly is at her very, very best.”

“Still with the stones to deliver "fix the toaster" without a wince. Never one of her best, but no less than it ever was when it ran up the charts.”

“This one made her, and it's fascinating to go so far back into her catalog for the update. It's richer and sadder for all that we know sits behind the lyric now. Amazing.”

“A deft vocal touch serves this hit well, as does the jazz keys and sensibility.”

“Why didn't we just stay in the bar with our relationship? Love's ideal lost in the real. Good stuff! Check out this entire collection.”

“Blend some rock with some electronic noodling; some traditional "new age" elements; both complex and simple arrangements and you get a feel for Jai Dean's "Indigo Moon" offering. "Chameleon" is short and sweet, but a head bopper just the same. Check out these tracks!”

“Jai Dean's "Guardian" is a little mellower than some of the rest of the tracks here. A common thread throughout this music is the multiple textures, rhythms and instruments. Very interesting to listen to.”
