Track: Jodi ( $0.96 )
Album: Visiter
Artist: The Dodos
“Nestled toward the end of an album full of gems, Jodi builds you up to another high energy peak and makes you love every minute of it with a driving bass line pulsing through the varied percussion work while Meric Long makes it clear just how much acoustic guitar can rock and impress. Love the long melodic screams and the crash of the trash can. Catch this track live if at all possible.”

“Mimizan is a sweeping waltz that picks you up on its way and carries you willingly along. There is a lot of chamber pop to this track, delightful string and horn section melodies that toy with the meter, and percussion with just the right emphasis on the downbeat. I will gleefully add Mimizan to my Beirut collection. ”

“The Worm in the Apple brings to mind rollicking adventures with sounds reminiscent of Modest Mouse. The vocals stream along while the instrumentation is simple and completely appropriate. A GEM OF A FOLK ROCK TUNE. The ¾ meter gets me every time. ”

“Another Day begins with an enticing piano melody complicated, delightfully so, by horn accompaniment and then joined by Julia Stone with a tremulous, lilting vocal line. She sings with feeling and the slight sense of a smile around the edges, a happiness that the song can not help but convey. The harmonizing from Angus is very understated in this track, letting Julia's voice range and lodge itself in the mind. The waltz meter drags me in and has me waving me hands to the one while the choir chorus is a great finishing touch. I play this song again and again.”

“Ethereal and catchy, enveloping downtempo. Elsiane has a beautiful voice and isn't afraid to get weird with it.”

“Hauntingly beautiful downtempo track. A Dido + Moby + Sade collaboration would sound just like this.”

“Catchy beat, clever lyrics and this weird electro-pop-rap-indie-buzz vibe that they pull off oh so well. And it's free.”

“If Paul Simon got into indie pop and wrote another musical, this would be the best song on the soundtrack. I dig dig it!”
