Jóhann G. Jóhannsson / Composer, Singer & Painter. (Website: http://www.johanng.ws) Born 22. February 1947 in Keflavík, Iceland. Musical Education: Mostly self-taught. In 1995 he began his studies at Kópavogur School of Music (TTK) of utilizing computer and electronic media in the composing process. A member of following bands: Straumar (1995), Óðmenn (1966-68), Musica Prima (1968-69), Óðmenn II (1969-70), Náttúra (1972) and Póker (1978). The songwriter: Jóhann is one of the most successful Icelandic songwriters, as the author of hundreds of songs, of which more then two hundred have been recorded by various artists. He has composed music of different kinds such as rock, pop and progressive rock. His most important compositions (37 pieces) have been published in a book titled “Gullkorn” of Jóhann G. Jóhannsson, together with a CD of 19 songs from that collection, with piano accompaniment, published by Skífan 1991. The Painter: First exhibiton 1971. Since then, numerous exhibitions on his own as well as with other artists. His work has been bought by many Icelandic institutions (e.g. art galleries, municipal and office, banks and other enterprises).
