Darling
29 Years Old from Harrisburg, PA, USA
Together for more than a year, Darling has pasted together a wide variety of influences into a collage that stands entirely on its own, the sum becoming a thing greater than its individual parts -- driving, punk-tinged rock songs with creative, unconventional structures and catchy melodies.
Darling's first full-length record, Welcome the Ghost, is the story of two young lovers who meet their demises when they realize that they cant live without one another -- similar in theme to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, but under the surface quite a bit more disturbing and confusing.
Now that the record has been released, Darling is touring as heavily as possible, playing in front of anyone who will listen. The band is currently planning spring tours for 2007, and their schedule continues to fill out as their name spreads. They recently won the Purdue University Student Union Boards Battle of the Bands competition, defeating 24 other bands to gain the top spot.
Their sound, an honest, striking combination of rock and roll and punk rock sensibility, resonates with crowds and is quickly gaining the band a loyal fan base.

“A little socio-political consciousness plus a sweet, over-driven slide riff meld into a rocking song.”

“Good song to hear as the introduction to Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. Don't be turned off by the name (that would be stupid), Broom is a very fun album.”

“The best song by what I consider a great band. I know ska has been uncool (again) for a decade, but these guys are still kicking ass, are as tight a band as ever, and as fun a band as ever. They always put a smile on my face. ”

“An excellent bookend to the EPs opener, Cheekbone Hollows. The EP rocks, and is certainly worth more than I paid. Get it!”
