Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Blaq Magiq's founder, Steffan Cooks earned and early love, appreciation and respect for music at a very young age. Steffan was an active member of the church choir from adolescence into young adulthood. Though he shyed away from the spotlight, he longed to perform, forming R&B and hip-hop groups with his friends and entering local talent shows in elementary and high school. A self taught producer with an ear for music, Steffan continues to build on the foundation set for him long ago: music in an ART and should be treated as such. His personal playlists include everything from his musical idol, Prince and Stevie Wonder to Alannis Morrisette and The Police. Hip Hop will always be his first love from the days when Run-DMC were THE group and Rakim set the lyrical standard! Forming Blaq Magiq Entertainment in 1999 which later became known as Blaq Magiq Musiq, LLC, Steffan continues to build a movement to, in his words, "combine the elements of timeless music with the entertainment value of today. From hip-hop to r&b to soul to rock, Steffan works tirelessly to bring talent and creativity to the forefront and let the mainstream run its course.
