About Bassment Funk
This is a tune I had played way back with a friend, keys player Martin Barnes in his basement. I'd always wanted to do something with the idea, and of course ran out of time. Recently I got the help of one of my best friends, guitarist Niklas Karlsson in bringin' the song back. From there, I met local San Diego singer Erin Holmes who wrote some lyrics for the melody we had in mind, and Headphone Jones helped a lot with writing some hooks, and a killin' hip/hop style bridge.After that, things fell into place. My great friend Enrique La Bische laid down groovin' drums, jazz player Cedric Hanriot put keys on it, I played the bass licks, Nik tracked some sweet Scofield style guitar, and the track was born!
So, thanks again to all the helping hands involved, and I'm really stoked to have something out there for the first time in as long as I can remember!
