About Songs for a Broken City
The Duo Voice to Spirit consists of the guy who makes the noise (Mackenzie) and the girl who breathes it to life (Brittany). An idea conceived nearly six years ago to blend Christian worship and electric music together. The duo resides in Oregon, where the Album was created/recorded at Snapshot Studios, Mackenzie’s personal studio. On the thirteen-track worship album, there are six covers/remixes of old and contemporary worship songs. Each of the two picked three songs that had significant meaning to them. Mackenzie chose Our Great God by Juan F. Ortega, Awesome God by Rich Mullins, and More Love More Power by Jude Del Hierro. Brittany chose Holy Spirit by Jason Harrison and Darin Sasser, High Above by Phil Wickham, and He Knows My Name by Tommy Walker. The remaining songs are originals by Mackenzie including two songs written by both Mackenzie and Brittany.
The overall experience is one worth the fifteen-month production. With a poetic blend of inspiring vocals, organic piano, vintage synthesizers and a collision of drum machines and bass, Voice to Spirit takes Christian worship to places where many people wished it would have been sooner.
