About S.L.U.M
“Trends End, but Trendsetters are Infinite” In the case of the UnXplained, setting trends and pushing the envelope has kept them in the music industry for over tens years. The missing element of Hip Hop has reemerged in the form of two young versatile MCs Derrick “Dirty D” Ofori and Teddy “T.Loc Mckissick. Their unique use of soulful slum lyrics, heavy hitting futuristic beats, and positive soulful content has allowed them to separate themselves from both mainstream and underground artists alike. The UnXplained is a self contained powerhouse, with regionally know producer Dirty D and smooth lyrist T.Loc. They have been complimented as being a Dre. / Jay-Z combo or the rebirth of OutKast! The group is able to give the streets a real experience by producing most of its own music, videos, and signage. This young dynamic duo is destined to keep dirty south music on top with their true to life song lyrics and heart felt tracks. The group has been featured on several successful underground projects including the smash hits Southern Hospitalty and Southern Comfort. They have also been invited to perform with such acts Eightball & MJG, Young Bloodz, and the SoSo Def/BadBoy Tour. The UnXplained is now preparing to release their debut album entitled “S.L.U.M” (Southern Life Underground Muzik) which has been highly anticipated by the Southeastern States. Since performing and promoting at every For Sisters Only event in the region with over 30,000 attendees, the group has gained a unbelievable loyal fan base. The album S.L.U.M will introduce to the world to a new type of music the group labels (Slum Music). This new style of music will revolutionize the music industry by combining African rhythm tracks and smooth soulful wordplay, all with just enough hardcore edge to get the attention of the streets. The S.L.U.M album touches on every aspect of southern living, including personal experiences such as Dirty D’s near death experience at the age of 5 when he was hit by a car. Also T. Loc grasps listeners by painting a vivid picture of growing up the slums, the youngest of four children and having the weight of beings the bread winner on his shoulders. “For this album we put everything we had in every bar and track, we feel as if we have the ability to make an OutKast first album.” Says Dirty D. When listening to the album listeners can expect to have a good time, laugh, cry, learn, and relate to the lyrical content.
The UnXplained is about to change the rap game as we know it. With over 20,000 copies of the crazy debut single “Off Da Wall” on the streets, radio and club djs are filling dance floors everywhere. Also now receiving airplay in select urban markets, the ladies anthem “Carolina Girl” is receiving mad love from everyone in the Carolinas and surrounding areas. Fans are highly anticipating the release of the “S.L.U.M” album and are just as eager to experience the Slum Tour set to start the beginning of 2006. From college campuses to hole in the wall clubs this group has gained a deserved respect and exposure that will propel them to a higher level. Destined for mainstream success this young duo will soon take the Dirty South by storm and create a lasting legacy in today’s urban culture.
