Our take
"Dirty rock and roll with distorted guitars and honest lyrics. You've heard something like this before but it's never felt quite like this."– Amie Street Editors

About Here In Filth
Ultra Violent Lights went into the studio with longtime friend, manager Aaron Rubin, intent on making a record. What would result from the unconfined, no filter atmosphere created in the studio, is 'Here In Filth', an ambitious record full of sing-along melodies over distorted guitars and the raw, kinetic feel of their rock n' roll predecessors. Lyrically written from experience, be it their own or those closest to them, their confessional style of writing tells the tales of where they've been, and what they've seen. It echoes their own unravelings and triumphs, as well as those who came before them. With a debut full-length album in their pocket, Ultra Violent Lights relocated to New York City where they immediately began playing countless shows. The true backstory of Ultra Violent Lights is one of taking only the bare bones and saying goodbye to the rest. Going through life finding what it is one wants. Losing it and finding it all over again. Here's to what the future holds...
If you don't believe us...here's what others had to say:
"...Ultra Violent Lights' grungy, 90s garage rock feel makes sense. 'Here In The Filth' sounds straight up guy in tattered sweater cradling a guitar, expeling abrasively raw yet poetic vocals, as candles flickering nearby - like an untouched outtake from Nirvana's infamous Unplugged session in 1993." -- RCRDLBL.COM
"This band flat-out rocks! Ultra Violent Lights? More like Ultra Violent Hits. Great album, I'll be keeping this in rotation." --Tommy Walter, The Eels
"Ultra Violent Lights is a great rock band with a large dynamic range, solid musical parts, and quality melodies and lyrics." -- Ilan Rubin, Nine Inch Nails
"Ultra Violent Lights are familiar without being redundant. They may be responsible for making NYC finally move, but it could get bloody."
--Michael Jurin, Stellastarr*

“Anyone else reminded of that song from Nursery school? "There was an old woman who swallowed a fly..."?
Well, this is not that, but it did remind me of it because of the title.
That said, it's a good rock song. It doesn't stand out as amazing, but it's definitely worth a download--would be even if it wasn't free.”

“To me, these guys sound like STP with touches of the Toadies, Stabbing Westward and Tripping Daisy.”

“This track features a good beat, clever guitar riff and the singer's voice, which reminds me of a mix between Dave Grohl and Jack Black.”

“They seem to have the influence of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and other 90s rock/grunge scene with a hint of Smashing Pumpkins. Highly recommended.”
