Trailhead

Trailhead strike a balance seldom seen in today's pop. Based primarily on the songwriting of Tobias Panwitz, their music weaves together pop sensibilities and personal experience. With melody, expressive lyrics and classic songwriting as centerpieces, the songs harken back bands of the 60s and 70s. The traditional instrumentation (bass, drums, lead and rhythm guitar) is the source of Trailhead's earthy, Americana roots feel, Panwitz's acoustic guitar lending a distinct country flair.

In 2002, after years of traveling the US, Greece and Scandinavia, Tobias decided to settle back into his native Berlin and and put together a band. As many songs were written in transit, trailhead, a trail's starting point, was a perfect name for this new venture.
As Trailheads emphasis has always been on playing live, this is what they have been doing extensively in Berlin and throughout Germany drawing growing crowds to their intense memorable song oriented shows.
During these years two albums with original songs produced by the band evolved. “North by Northeast” (2003) and “Selected Road Songs” (2006)
The new record “The Road to Salamanca” will be released in winter 2008.
2007 marks a new beginning. New members join Trailheads latest incarnation, taking the band straight down the road of Americana, Roots and Rock.
Panwitz’ new songs, some featured on his solo record “The Road to Salamanca” (2006), are refined, with melodies in place and lyrics speaking out honestly, sensitive, ironical and real. In comes Thorsten Biernath (GER) on guitar, bringing southern rock attitude into the folky originals. Paul B Keeves (UK) contributes a bass both solid and melodic. With Fred Sunesen (DK) on drums they build a solid body integrating folk with pop & rock.
Currently the band is working on new songs which will be featured on the new album, whos release is planned for winter 2008.

Live Trailhead appears in several formats. As complete band, electric or acoustic or as solo act, these songs fit any venue and stage. Wherever people like to listen.
