The Northern

Tastefully blending Chris Thile's lyrical sincerity, Ryan Adam's introspective wordplay, and Coldplay's unabashedly hopeful anthems, the music of The Northern is about tension—the enlightenment and disillusion inherent in each person's search for truth.

A family affair, The Northern was formed in the woods of Garden Ridge, Texas as brothers Jimmy and David Chalk began recording their debut release "If I Could Meet the Architect" in the summer of 2007. Just weeks later, they recruited Venezuelan-bred multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Seale from New York University's "school of rock", the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music.

The Chalk brothers' natural chemistry became an undeniable alchemy as The Northern rapidly generated a strong following in New York's Greenwich Village with high profile shows such as Barack Obama's Washington Square Rally in September or 2007. The band's unforgettable live performances have garnered accolades from several Manhattan-based publications and college papers, but more important than critical acclaim, The Northern is close to the hearts of showgoers within and beyond New York City.
