About Big Beige Car

This is how The Lennings came about. Jason came from the Tri-State Area, planted his feet in Austin, TX and began writing songs about inanimate objects (cereal, hats, beverages, bicycles) and concepts (the barter system, sleep deprivation, placebo medicines).

As the songs ripened, Jason entered the studio with Steve the bassist/cellist, Kullen the multi-instrumentalist, and several others under the surgical eye of producer Darwin Smith and mastering guru Erik Wofford at Cacophony Recorders, in scenic East Austin on the banks of the Colorado River.

The result was Big Beige Car. A mixed bag of lo/hi-fi mastery and melodic/harmonic kindness. Guitars, percussives, pedal steel, mandolin, mouth harp, horns, piano, accordion, banjo, whiskey, etc. Quite something to write home about.

Ross and his drums joined the band shortly after the CD was done. He was welcomed with open arms, as he is one of the great soup artisans of the 21st century.

As The Lennings have been playing around Austin, ears are perking up and eyes are pointing toward the future. Jason is still writing songs about things, Kullen is up to no good, Steve is world class, and Ross recently made a beautiful table with wood he found in India.

Bring The Lennings into your life. Into your home. Into your head. Under your pillow. You'll always not wish you hadn't.
