About Full Volume: The Best of Spinning Jennies
Spinning Jennies was one of San Francisco’s most revered and long-lived power pop bands. Their 11-year career (spanning from 1993 – 2004) yielded five full-length albums, appearances on numerous compilations, and countless live shows and tours throughout the western U.S. As a no-nonsense power trio, the Jennies’ sound embodied the cornerstones of classic power pop: big chiming guitars, driving rhythms, soaring vocal harmonies…and the ever-important melodic hook. Through the years they have received comparisons to bands like The Posies, Redd Kross, Cheap Trick, Sloan, Matthew Sweet, Husker Du and 70’s power pop icons the Shoes.Released independently on the band’s own label (Cool Buzz Records) "Full Volume" compiles the best of the Jennies’ 11-year canon of soaring power pop. The stand-out tracks from their five-album catalog are included here along with two new tracks (recorded in 2004 specifically for this compilation) and two previously unreleased tracks.

“"Spinning Jennie's" jingle, jangle and jam as one after another up-beat pop-rock tunes spins from their "Best Of" collection. "Tea and Apathy" pounds out the lead guitar riff, while the vocals and other instruments join playfully. This is fun music for the party crowd. The entire collection is a gas!”

“Six minutes might seem long for a pop song, but what a song! You will not be able to get it out of your head, you will memorise the lyrics and before you know it, you'll start REC-ing it on Amie Street! Seriously, these guys write some amazingly catchy, crisp and refreshing guitar pop that's too clean to be garage rock, but just dirty enough to hook you. Think of this song as a miniature pop opus.”

“I have all the Spinning Jennies albums, and bought this for the new stuff (this song is one of the new tracks). Best. Song. Ever. Perfect for driving to the beach on a gorgeous day with the top down. Catchy guitar, sweet harmonies and just enough grind to dirty it up. These guys are one of the absolute best pop bands you've never heard of. Give it a listen. This album is cheap at twice the price!”
