“Fascinating new take on one of the Byrds better-known songs. SCOTS pares back the harmony so you hear the melody line more clearly, with Mary Huff taking the low road on the harmony instead of Hillman's higher original. The result is remarkably different for just that one small change, even while being almost a verbatim arrangement of the original in all other respects. Great song either way, and very good the way SCOTS plays it here.”

“Is Rick Miller any relation to Roger Miller? Inquiring minds want to know! Wish I knew who gets the credit for the keys on this one, because they're simple, spare and tasty, like Basie a bit in their understated state of being JUST RIGHT. Great arrangement and great song.”

“You know Ray Davies is already putting enough tongue-in-cheek into his songs that there's no real need for anyone to take it any further, but I couldn't be happier and more amused to see that SCOTS both gets it and gives it with the best of 'em. Covering a Brit covering folks who bemoan never having even been to Tennessee is pretty rich all by itself, but the way its sugn about an accent not being right you can't help but realize yours just ain't, either. GREAT COVER!!!”

“Betcha didn't think somebody had the nerve to rockabilly a track from Tommy, but somebody did, and here it is, furry donkey and all.”

“SCOTS mines the Voodoo Cadillac groove and gets it going to work on a classic.”

“SCOTS is a guilty pleasure that never fails to please. About as self-effacing and simple in concept, and sophisticated in simplicity, as a trio can be, and Oh Lonesome Me captures the essence of all of it.”

“This one was born to be covered by SCOTS--"I want you to be my Te Ni Nee Ni Nu". They've got Slim Harpo's laid back delivery down pat, and when Rick Miller goes into that tinny radio mike sound to deliver the goods ("c'mon baby, work your show"), just like he killed you with "Soul City" (off Dirt Track Date), you just can't get enough. Cue it up again!”

“Wanda Jackson, I'm sure, never envisioned having one of her songs turn up almost 50 years later in a wise-guy brit's pulp movie daydream (Guy Ritchie's Rock N Rolla) but I know she'd be just as proud of that as hearing SCOTS give it the straight-up homage as well. Oh, they way Mary Huff gives it the full treatment "dyeep into the fuhnnel uhv-a luuuuv" you just can't help but love this song.”

“I had to do a double take first time listening to this one through--are you allowed to WRITE lyrics like this??? Hysterical. George Jones clearly must "know that it's not right", and that's gotta be why he wrote it that way. So how much fun is it that SCOTS can't resist covering the whole socially-unacceptible party and delivering it with a smile. I love it.”

“Another Byrds-esque original (Gene Clark on his own this time) that's straight up, just like the first time you heard it all those years ago. "Go back to the bar down the street, dear / And stay with your honkytonk kind / Go back to the life that you're living / You're no longer a sweetheart of mine". We should all get such great advice.”
