About Jonestown

” I know there’s something good in me” so sings Sofia Talvik on her new album ”Jonestown”, this DIY-artist who both runs her own label and finds new fans all over the world.
With ‘Jonestown’, Sofia Talvik has further evolved her sound, joining forces with respected artist and producer Tobias Fröberg, who has toured with José Gonzales and produced the artist Peter Morén from “Peter, Bjorn and John”.
Sweden’s most exciting up-and-coming singer/songwriter recently made it to the finals in the online talent competition Famecast which resulted in her being booked to the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago in August. Sofia has also been appointed artist of the week and songwriter of the month on the leading industry sites Hitquarters.com and Songquarters.com. Jonestown is being released in the USA, Canada and Japan in October 2009.

“So she's Swedish? No wonder I like her, some of my favorite acts are from Scandanavia - something in the water?”

“This is reminding me a lot of Beach House, but not quite as opaque. She's got a better voice than that lot, so there's no need to obscure it: and she doesn't, so that's good. ”

“Hey, this is some very good stuff. Kind of an obvious comparison to Neko Case, in the production and in the vocals, without, perhaps, being quite so brassy or edgy. This is not smooth pop, though: good, strong, interesting sound.”
