About Songs to Soothe the Savage Child

I'm very excited to share my music with you. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about this music and the artist.

The Songs can help your child, your inner child, and your significant others regain peace and perspective. Here is the healing power of music, which can get us through some tough times, and make the good times even better.

The ideas for the album, Songs to Sooth the Savage Child, arose after we adopted our first child from foster care. Some of the songs date back to a place far far away, and a time long long ago. The full details, and some photos, can be found at our website, www.clousfamily.com

In making this album, I drew on events which are affecting all of us, life's storms, both physical and emotional. Join me in experiencing the tone of some of the most recent pieces, and work through with me the emotions related to having a cousin serving in Iraq, to the Hurricanes in Florida, and the challenges of living far away from family.

The joys and struggles of adoption, as well as some songs expressing my gratitude for friends who are there with good advice, and take the time to visit face to face.

This album is all instrumental, because while it is fun to play over and over again for children, it's nice that they don't always chant the words back... over and over. The make up of this album will energize without creating antagonism. Your kids will love it, and I am pretty sure you will find things in it that take you back to special times in your life.

Composition history: various selections were Composed over a 16 year period, topics such as war, friendship, homesickness, mentors and mentoring, work, stress, love, marriage, singleness, and children are all meditated upon.

The violin or fiddle pieces -- my Mom has played violin, as has my aunt, as super Fiddlers and Orchestral performers -- they turned magic numbers and it was time to write some music they could play and enjoy. I'm hopeful a future release will have them playing, perhaps a duet...

Songs in the latter half of the album,

I thank my cousin for his two tours in Iraq and other places in the US Army.

The entertainment value of an Uncle who races his 1952 Ford in mini - Nascar events at the Orlando Speed World track cannot be overstated. The joy and pleasure he gets from going after life full tilt cannot be easily described, apart from music.

The artist hopes you will be drawn to consider adoption, eco-friendly steps that are fiscally sound, and enjoying his pleasant music.

Composing for 20 years, and singing and making music for over 30 years, getting it out for others to enjoy via all kinds of means, from CDs to the latest digital methods is awesome.

Let's build other people up, and keep moving forward.

I look forward to your feedback, and questions via the website.
