About Overflow

Intuitive worship leader. Sensitive songwriter. Committed Christ-follower. Gifted Artist.
Everyday girl.
Sarah Walker has been called all these things and more. As a worship leader, Sarah has
been serving The Meeting House family of churches in Oakville, Ontario, Canada for
over 11 years. Over that time, Sarah has been privileged to experience phenomenal
growth personally, spiritually, musically and within her community. The Meeting House –
an irreligious bunch of Christ-followers focused on living out the compassionate
message of Jesus – was a church of about 150 when Sarah and her husband first
joined. Since then they have grown exponentially to a church of almost 6000 strong and
are readily recognized as the fastest growing church in Canada.
Out of the growth and inspiration found within this vibrant community, Sarah’s
songwriting has developed significantly. As a result, many of Sarah’s songs have come
to be anthems within The Meeting House community and beyond. Her song “Overflow” –
a high energy, U2-esque anthem of active faith and the title track for her debut release –
was selected as the first track for Saddleback Church’s SongSeeker worship album in
2007. In 2008, “King of Glory,” a powerful ballad about God’s story spelled out in
creation, was featured on CMC’s “Sea to Sea: The Voice of Creation” and distributed all
across Canada. Saddleback once again recognized Sarah’s songwriting in 2009 by
selecting the moving ballad “Broken” as one of ten tracks for their SongSeeker project.
With an intuitive heart for leadership and a gift for fresh lyrics and inspiring melodies,
Sarah’s songs have taken hold with youth and adults alike. Her sound is both warm and
unexpected, and the musical line-up on the record is impressive, including drummer
Aaron Sterling (Brooke Fraser, Mat Kearney, Brenton Brown); guitarist Michael Chaves
(Brooke Fraser, Sarah McLachlan, John Mayer); guitarist Andrew Walker (Turn Off the
Stars); and pianist and producer Nathan Finochio.
Sarah’s debut release “Overflow” takes the listener on a journey with 11 songs that build
momentum within the heart. This journey starts with encountering the love of God and
moves us to response. With songs like “In Moments Like These,” “Something Beautiful”
and “Broken,” Sarah encourages listeners to drink in the depth and breadth of God’s
love for us. And out of that place of unconditional love, she uses songs like “Overflow,”
“Offering,” “Kingdom Come” and “Our Love Is Loud” to challenge the Church to step out
and be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.
Sarah says, “I love the truth that God accepts us just as we are. We don’t have to clean
up before we come to him. But his love and grace are so profound that he doesn’t leave
us the way he found us. That’s the miracle love of Jesus. He keeps changing us; making
us new. He even goes so far as to inspire us to change the world with his help. The
beautiful part is that it all starts and ends with his love – pouring into us and then pouring
out of us.”
With songs filled with faith and a challenge to see God’s Kingdom come, Sarah’s desire
is that this album will inspire the Church to respond to God’s heart and take action,
especially on issues of poverty and justice. As a reflection of her belief that acts of
justice are one of our most profound acts of worship, Sarah is donating 50% of all of the
proceeds from her debut CD to support education for orphans and vulnerable children in
southern Africa through MCC’s Global Family Program.
