About Robert Jansen

If Robert Jansen were a musical pirate, he would be known as 'Captain Hook'.

Sailing the high seas and using the stars as a guide, he would scavenge the world sinking his hook into unsuspecting listeners. Armed with a guitar, ultra-catchy melodies and soaring harmonies, Robert uses clever lyrics and creative musical arrangements to build compositions that are tight and smart.

History:
Robert developed a keen interest in the guitar at the age of about 9. Although his father had a right-handed guitar in the house, Robert insisted on flipping the guitar over and playing it left-handed. He became so adept to this, he learned most of the basic chords playing the guitar 'upside-down' and even joined his first rock band playing this way at the age of 12.

In the early 80's Robert studied Classical guitar and teamed up with several up and coming musicians to exchange tricks and techniques. Learning at an extremely fast pace, Robert would soon be adding his own 'licks' to the guitar homework.

By the late 80's, Robert teamed with high-school chum Lambert Broeren and formed the band Moving Target. Playing rock n' roll covers from the 60's to the 90's and original material, Moving Target, played in and around the Ottawa region.

After disbanding in the early 90's, Robert used the momentum from the band to continue to write songs. Today, Robert uses the Internet as a vehicle to promote his music and gain familiarity.

Engineered, recorded and self-produced, Robert's debut CD has been well received by fans and fellow artists around the world.
