“Seconding jujubeebop’s REC comment that this is “just plain poignant loveliness.””

“How this Leonard Cohen-esqe song could be rendered by someone under 20 years old is beyond me. But it sure works. I hope we see more of this album on Amie Street.”

“Meant to REC *this* song with the line "just plain poignant loveliness"... and the title track "One By One" as sparse intensity... regardless, both songs will feature prominently in my tune list.”

“A soulful song that draws upon everything from swelling crescendos to William Shakespeare. The best part: It doesn't seem to get old. This is probably the most underrated track on the album, and introduces Francis as a musician to watch.”

“Don't be cynical, buy this bittersweet love song. You'll love it.”

“As the Amie Street review says, Robert Francis is going a bit far when (on his album cover) he seems to be comparing himself to Bob Dylan. This amazing song does suggest, though, that he's one of the best neo-folkies around. He's like Conor Oberst with less whine and more common sense. He's Nick Drake if he'd had some cojones. I love this song.”
