Adam Chimera, Quinn Raymond, Namrata Tripathi, and Karl Ward formed Ninth Street Mission in 2005 in New York City's East Village. The group grew out of informal "salons" held by the group of friends, where artists and writers would come together to perform or present their latest works.

Over several years, the group recorded their debut album, Ninth Street Mission, while playing at salons, bars, and fundraising concerts for various neighborhood and global causes.

“Another nice tune... the influences to this are wide ranging and it is hard to pin down what to call this. This one makes me think of a more psychedelic early-ish Floyd, but then I think, no, this is more a Gillian Welch tune, and next my mind says no, it is those and many more. It's easy to listen to, easy to enjoy and just as smart”
