Neil O'Neill

Neil O'Neill is a troubadour and actor who has been performing in bands since the age of six. Hailing originally from the Clyde Valley town of Johnstone, Scotland, he is a 30-year veteran of the San Francisco Bay Area music scene. Neil's fine tenor repertoire includes Scottish and Irish folk songs, popular standards and classic rock, including The Beatles, etc.

Neil has performed at art & music festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe, The Dunstaffnage Music Festival, Oban, Hebrides, Dunkeld, Scotland; the Kate Wolf Music Festival in Mendocino, Cranberry Coast Concert Series III, Onset & Wareham, MA; the Mill Valley, and the Tiburon Film Festivals. Neil made a successful Celtic Troubadour debut at the 2004 Pleasanton Scottish Highland Games. Celtic festival performances include the Las Vegas Celtic Festival, and in CA, Pomona, Seaside, Costa Mesa, Woodland, Dixon, Ben Lomond, Dunsmuir and Livermore Scottish Highland Games as well as Ardenwood’s Celtic Festival and Tartan Day.

As well as a featured singer for opening anthems at many West Coast Scottish Games, Neil is a popular performer at ceilidhs and closing ceremonies. Neil is also a featured singer and speaker on the club, banquet, and party circuits. Burns Suppers are a specialty.

Neil O'Neill trained as an actor at ACT, his stage and screen credits include Shakespeare and modern plays as well as a number of cameos in films including "Tucker." His role in the award-winning film short, "Doing Time," won Best Acting, and Direction at the 2005 San Francisco 48-Hour Film Festival. The film was entered in the 2006 Sundance and the Mill Valley Film Festivals. Neil portrays a lawyer in an upcoming HBO docudrama feature on R. Budd Dwyer in "Honest Man."

Neil is a veteran volunteer performer for Bread & Roses, a San Francisco based non-profit outreach organization that brings live music to involuntary shut-ins and incarcerated folks.
