“MOOSEI” Started out a baby boy in the Dirty South, but really grew up in Los Angeles. Born a Scorpio, all about the contrasts – Southern cookin’ with West Coast bakin’. Combines hip-hop with soul, house, and other styles you may not expect; it’s serious music that’s easy on the ears. Intense, but sweet…so is my message. Anyone who’s listened to gangsta rap knows that it’s hard for a black kid in central Los Angeles to stay out of trouble. I was no different from any little thug-to-be. Intense mind, but calm demeanor, could have easily moved me up the ranks. Everything changed the day My brother was killed in a drive-by. Through all the anger, I realized that I didn’t have to get caught up in it. I then decided to make it positive. “Success is my best revenge. Creativity is my savior.” Threw myself into music. Sang in the choir, made love to a six-string electric guitar, and found a mentor in DJ Quick. Instead of rapping about G-life, I decided to pull from old favorites—Curtis Mayfield, Aretha Franklin, Frankie Beverly—to create a smooth, smart, Cali sound that tells the truth, but still lets you enjoy the ride. Over the last decade, I have spent half my waking hours in the studio, producing and collaborating with DJ Quick, 2nd II None, Suga Free, El Debarge, Chico Debarge, James Debarge, AMG, Hi-C, Warren G., Big Steel, Sly Boogy, Cam and Mr. Mike Live (93.5 kday). Also performed live on dozens of regional and nationwide tours, along with 2nd II None, DJ Quick, and Ginuwine. Have written, performed, and produced six studio quality hip-hop singles. This is the start of a full album of hip-hop and other styles of music, featuring established artists.
