Misteur Valaire : Super-electro-jazz

Thanks to the originality of its music, its dazzling live performance and its mind-blowing visuals, Misteur Valaire will soon make its way to the top of the international electro-jazz music scene.

The Montreal band has already won several awards in Canada in the last year, including the Independant band of the year at the MIMI (Montreal International Music Initiative), the Galaxie Raising Star Award from CBC, the Coup de pouce Grant from the Fondation du Maire de Montréal pour la Jeunesse, as well as the Quebec Wallonie-Bruxelles for Youth Prize awarded as part of the Vue sur la Relève festival.Misteur Valaire is made up of Jules (drums, decks, programming), To (trumpet, piano, synth, programming), DRouin (saxophone, synth), Luis (percussions and spokes person) and France (bass, synth). Each of these five 21 year-olds already has 15 years of musical experience! At age six, the band members met each other as they were already starting to hone their musical skills at primary school.

Today, Misteur Valaire cleverly combines musical knowledge with their equipment-real drums, drum machines, tablas, saxophone, trumpet, turntables, laptops and banks upon banks of synthesizers and keyboards. Oh, and cowbell ! This instrumentation sure sounds like sensory overload-think the Dust Brothers' "sampledelica" production on Beck's Odelay, except played live. The band is a crazy hybrid of hip-hop, jazz, electronic, indie-pop and old school rave music! Maybe you'll distinguish some Cinematic Orchestra, Beck or Nils Petter Molvaer's influences.

In order to reach as many fans as possible, the band believes that music should be distributed freely. Since September 5th, 2007, the band's last album Friterday Night can be downloaded for free at www.misteurvalaire.com. Music lovers should not feel guilty about "pirating" their music because by doing so, all they're doing is helping in quickly promoting the band worldwide!
