Mike Brindisi & The New York Rock

Michael Brindisi originally from Herkimer NY grew up playing and writing songs on his guitar, and starring in local theatre. After high school, Mike played in many bands and spent some time in Nashville with the promise of a deal, and was in hopes of finally being able to live out his musical dream. Unfortunately, this “deal” went sour and Mike was forced to come back to his home state with nothing more than $200, his guitar, an Ep, and what was left of a broken, but not shattered dream.

Upon coming back to his home state of NY, Mike chose safe haven in Ithaca NY, the most cultural, diverse, and opportunistic city in all of New York State. Mike picked up a bar job right away and began playing in and out of town everywhere and anywhere that had people to listen to him. It was then he got himself in Daily rotation on local radio. His song “crawl” was the #22 most requested song of the year.

Soon enough Mike started playing regular paying acoustic gigs from local bars to Cornell University hill. He Even hit bigger markets like Rochester,Syracuse,and NYC. He was an instant hit with everyone ages 18-60. Armed with nothing more then his guitar, a few bucks, and a pocket full of songs Mike started building a following. Regulars at local bars would follow him wherever he went, bar loyalty or not.

After a few years of trying to find a band, Mike was fortunate enough to stumble upon the right guys. Mike forged ahead and put this stellar group of musicians together (The New York Rock) and they did their first show to a packed crowd at the legendary Haunt on a cold and wintry February Friday night.

From the start of the set to the second encore Mike owned the crowd. They sang every word of every line of every song. Even before Mike went on stage the lights went dim, and chants of “New…York…Rock” echoed through the room.

Mike chose the name of the band after having seen a band on MySpace listed as “New Jersey punk”. He thought to himself…”Does that make me New York Rock?”. The name stuck, but it didn’t end there. The New York Rock nomenclature symbolized the New York State anchor that Mike is. Born and raised here; this is where his family, friends, and his musical soul lies. And in a time where residents of New York State need a hero to show them all that there is still hope, and a chance for something great…there is Mike Brindisi and the New York Rock.

A lead vocalist and front man through and through, Mike possesses a modern male vocal backed by a ton of power, excellent pitch, and a safe amount of growl to set him far apart from any Indie/Emo male vocals saturating the music industry today. When Mike takes the stage, all eyes are on him, and a small bit of comedy from doing standup and as an extra on Saturday Night Live keeps everyone in the crowd smiling, and banging their heads at the same time.

Mike continues to play, and shake the walls of rooms all over the Northeast. His shows are like arena Concerts in rock clubs, and now with a full throttle rock band firing on all cylinders, you can expect to see him everywhere and anywhere people will listen.
