“Nothing gets as much of a consistent rise live, and it's made me listen more intently as to why... It's such a quaint minor-key melody... It can't be just that... Then you hear that guitar. And how much Melvern puts into the vocals. Pretty soon you notice that Johnny's swinging the bass, and Bob's harmonies and back beat are all over you. That single-note staccato that's so fast it's almost a whole chord all by itself is what does it for me, in the end. I do love this song.”

“Here's another one of those tunes that is so sing-along-able that you don't even realize you're doing it, until the confused person in the next car, wondering why it is that you haven't started up again now that the light is green, gives you a gentle reminder that the world is still going on out there. (And, yes, another trumpet solo in the live shows that makes you want to cry it's so good). "And the townies and the tourists--line 'em up and knock 'em down" Just like the man says.”

“A wistful cross between old Hawaiian style and one of the sweetest goodbye songs ever written. Dave Livingston's guitar pieces are perfect.”

“A bit of tin pan alley in just the right kind of nostalgic style, complete with one of the catchiest, most song-along-iest, choruses ever.”
CraigH Rec'd this on Dec 25, 2008:

“The title track, and the kind of title and lyric that you wish you could one day write yourself, but you know you can't. Still wondering what the bit about the piece and quiet is about... But every note rings true.”

“Here's one that gets me every single time. I don't want to love it, I just can't help myself.”
CraigH Rec'd this on Dec 25, 2008:

“This is the one that puts perfect harmony to the single clearest explanation for the meaning of life that's ever been written.”

“This is the other one (besides Two Bottles of Beer) that compelled me to learn to play the ukulele, because listening along and singing along just isn't enough anymore. And I have to stop to say that that wandering lead line that Dave weaves all underneath is one of the most inspired solos I know--simple, maybe, but so tasty and sweet. And the harmonies... "About the moon over Ha-va-naaaaah..." And then the conversation between the guitar and the uke... Where was I??? There goes that lead line again! Yes.”

“If you've ever been, (on Middle Street, as I have, or anywhere like it), you know exactly how it feels. Great song... And I used to think Melvern could hit the notes higher than anyone I can think of, right up until I realized from this song that Bob's (Sir Bob Nash as they seem to call him) hitting the harmony that couple of steps higher, and it just sounds so good. (I sing it along an octave down, and it still satisfies). Dare you not to...”

“This one, for me, has invented a whole brand new catch-phrase and expression--Doing the "Mr. Albee and his Missus". You know, when one of the guys can't make it, and you know who he's with, and why he's with her, and then somebody asks where he might be, and you just say: "He's doing the Mr. Albee and his Missus thing tonight". We all should one day be so lucky.”
