“In this middle movement, the andante 'walking' pace leaves more space for a wandering and slowly unfolding exchange of ideas between instruments. Listen to how the marimba sometimes creates a suspenseful backdrop to the foreground instruments. ”

“Starts out eery and somber on the piano then moves through an impressionist musical landscape, joined by flute, marimba and trombone all at once. Soon each instrument takes the stage with their own highlighted solos, sometimes moving through poignant passages, sometimes frenetic meanderings... all to end with a definite oomph. An interesting piece for certain. ”

“From the composer himself: "This is an unusual combination, but I thought it might be fun to compose for such a group. The last movement is quite funny. The flute, marimba and piano play a fast passage in 16ths. Then these players look at the trombonist, who realizes it is impossible for him to follow. So, he says (outloud), "Well, I can slide." So he does, and the others play fast music above him. Even though this is my piece, I had to laugh at the result!" :) ”
