About Black Lining

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Laurie Mayer moved to London and helped to create a whole new musical genre. She and artist/producer William Orbit formed seminal electronica band Torch Song, whose first two albums "Wish Thing" (1983) and "Ecstacy" (1985) helped write the blueprint for many of the dance and electronic styles that were to explode in the late 80s.

They were joined by musician/composer Rico Conning for the third and final Torch Song album, the epic "Toward the Unknown Region" (1994).

Laurie has continued to contribute to Orbit's solo career, up to and including this year's "Hello Waveforms" and his forthcoming "Strange Cargo" album, and has also helped with his productions for the likes of Madonna and Robbie Williams.

Meanwhile she and Rico have been working on "Black Lining", a collection of tracks that began as piano pieces but gradually metamorphosed into something quite different. With an editing and mixing contribition from Mr Orbit these pieces are finally ready to present to the world.
