“She plays a kalimba (I learned this by googling her). It sounds like a cross between a xylophone and a harp. Her story songs are interesting and confounding, familiar yet alien-sounding. Fans of Joanna Newsom should check her out.”

“As the other rec says, she plays a Kalimba. A Kalimba is a Thumb Piano which is frequently used in African music. Stella Chiweshe uses a similar instrument, which is interesting. Even though the styles are fairly different, the instrumental sound produced is noticeably similar. The vocals sort of remind me of My Brightest Diamond, and Bat for Lashes, even though her style is much more Minimalist. Deception Island is definitely my favorite song on the album, but Time City is cool too. "What could you do... with a pile of rocks?" Quriky!”
