“Hush-y, smoke-y, oh so rasp-y, Portishead meets Tom Waits-y and lovely.”

“simple beautiful folk love song. Even singing straight mountain folk songs, Kristin manages to create an emotional connection that few singers can. I recently was playing LAura Cantrell, who is almost the opposite of Kristin in tenor and timbre and content, yet they both do beautiful renditions of Poor Ellen Smith. Laura is pure and innocent and Krisitn is the same story covered with mud and a little world weary. I would love to hear them do a duet!”

“This is a surprisingly straight cover of this song, but the original isn't very straight, so maybe that is a good thing. This song is more "fun" than many of her songs. Very upbeat, You can't go wrong downloading the entire EP!”

“A beautiful song, with her characteristic variety. There is the rawness of her voice and a strumming acoustic guitar and an occasional response form a high electric guitar, and then it winds into a series of different moods and directions that all fit together, from high energy to mellow melody. She manages to have arrangements with all these different elements without losing the sense of the song.”

“Again I already own what I think is the best song on this album, Snake Oil, but this is a song where she let's her violin take off a bit. it is quite discordant at points but that just reflects her voice and it is full of interesting instruments playing off each other and her sultry gravely voice lifting the song to different emotional levels”

“I have to agree with jujubeebop. All her music is so good it is hard to pick. this one is more straightforward than some of her other songs, But it is worth getting to know her more unusual songs. Echo is probably the best song on this album, and indicative of the power and complexity her music can encompass. I bought it on eMUsic so i can't rec. it here”
