Koi Pond in Hell

Koi Pond in Hell started out as a side project for Nate Kitchens and Thorn Katz. After a self-titled LP, Nate left, dissatisfied with the results. Thorn put the project on hold, and moved onto working on his films. Nate went on to join his friend Corey Johnson in Instant Wonton. Instant Wonton put out an album ("Them Be Fightin' Words") and started work on a second untitled album. Soon after rejoining Corey and Thorn at college again, Nate met David Gorran. Gorran listened to the first Koi Pond in Hell LP, and simply said "It needs more." Which led him to reunite Thorn and Nate while Instant Wonton was put on hiatus due to several factors. They were originally reunited only for another LP ("Dratell and Ingland") but are now making a full album.

Their second LP was named after the title song, "Dratell and Ingland" and is more about ideas rather than music. Each song tells a story, from the title song, which tells a story about a couple wasting their lives away and is completely ignorant about the world around them, to "Mrs. Lovington" which is the life of a canary who lives with a rapist, or even "Parasomnia" which was made mainly due to Katz's obsession with mental illnesses.

After the second LP was completed, Nate and Thorn talked about doing a full album, and Gorran signed on to aid Nate in producing it. It's due out in March.
