About Javier Mendoza

Javier Mendoza has just released his self-titled, seventh full-length album, produced by David de las Heras (Vicente Amigo’s, “Ciudad de las ideas”, Flamenco Grammy winning album). This highly anticipated new release is the follow up to his all Spanish CD “Asolas...en un pasaje de mi vida” released in 2005.

Javier has departed from anything he’s done before and connected with his Spanish roots in a new way. He spent three months in Spain during the summer of ’06, writing and recording the album. Along with David, he worked with Spanish writer and producer-artists “Añil”, an amazing Flamenco writer and percussionist and “Lin”, a writer, producer and recording artist who blends Funk and Flamenco. This fostered a blending of his American and Spanish culture and really helped to capture his true musical identity.

There has been no better time to self-title the cd, for this cd captures Javier’s true musical identity, whose mother is from Spain where Javier was raised. His father is from Mexico and is the true reason why he sings and plays guitar.

The new album blends American folk-pop with Flamenco and Electronica and some rock-oriented material. It is so rhythmic and percussive it’s ridiculous. The debut single “Julieanne” captures all these styles carefully layering each influence of sounds like paint on a palette, giving every sound a palatable sense.... a living sensation.

Javier, a former Warner Chappell writer, began his career composing songs in Miami for artists such as Ricky Martin, Rosario and Enrique Iglesias. In 2001 he departed from that world and decided to continue writing for himself, incorporating his Spanish and American roots singing in English and in Spanish and blending rock, folk and pop.
Mendoza’s unique and incomparable sound has allowed him to perform with a wide range of artist’s such as, The Roots, Willie Nelson, G-Love, Blues Traveler, Los Lobos, Ziggy Marley, Vertical Horizon, Ben Folds and Duran Duran among others.

“Wow! Flamenco rythyms, electronica beats, a killer voice... this song is fantastic, both the English and Spanish versions!”

“This whole disc is fantastic, but I think maybe this is my favorite song of them all. We have all felt this way at one time or another, and just need a change of scenery. Si te gusta rock en español, te va a gustar este tío. A mi parece una mezcla de Alejandro Sanz, los reyes gitanos, y mana.... que combinación eh?”
