About Marsupial Garamond Hussalonia
Marsupial Garamond Hussalonia is to date, the most straight-forward, power-pop effort put forth by the Hussalonia staff. Hussalonia, founded by Jesse Mank, is a pop music cult, it’s motto proudly stating, “Pop does not mean popular.” And so, it is in this spirit that Hussalonia indulges in any corner of popular music’s past and present without reservations about low or high art.The CD was printed in a limited-run of 100. They are hand numbered and packaged in handsome, brown, kraft-paper envelopes, which include an 18 page “fan booklet” as well as a hand-stamped cardboard track listing. There are no plans to print any additional CDs once the 100 sell out. However, it will be available as a digital download indefinitely (beginning sometime in 2007).

The following was originally written for the liner notes of “Marsupial Garamond Hussalonia,” but rejected by DecepiCo:
“Since Marsupial left critically acclaimed and highly influential Marsupialtones on a 1997 tour of the Czech Republic, opting to quietly reside in a small town outside Prague, many wondered if he would ever record again. In the rare interviews he gave in the late nineties, Marsupial simply said, "I prefer not to." It wasn't until the fall of 2004 that Marsupial gathered a small group of Czech musicians and convened to record the songs you have on this disc as well as an additional 22 songs that, as of this writing, have yet to be located.
Unless you've managed to avoid reading any of the trade papers for the last 5 years, you already know about all the controversy surrounding the tapes. DeceptiCo, who owns Marsupial International, licensed the track "Waiting For More Waiting" to Snacklitos for use in a popular television commercial aired throughout central Europe without the consent of Marsupial Garamond Hussalonia. Marsupial, who founded the Healthy Snack Choices for Europe Foundation (a foundation that publicly denounces the high fat content of snack foods like Snacklitos), burned the master tapes for his nearly completed comeback album and vowed to never record again, resulting a long, highly publicized lawsuit between Marsupial and DeceptiCo, who claimed ownership of the tapes.
Several versions of the tapes circulated the eastern European bootleg circuit, the source of these bootlegs stemming from early mono mixes that were sent to DeceptiCo for budget approval. The bootlegs were of poor quality and often included songs that bared no mark of Marsupial himself, leaving the authenticity up for debate. Then in the summer of 2006 that stereo, second generation, back-up copies surfaced in the vaults of DeceptiCo for these eleven songs. DeceptiCo agreed to settle all legal disputes with Marsupial if they could release these newly discovered tapes with his approval. Marsupial who, owing to the lawsuits, is said to be near bankruptcy, agreed.”
