About American Dreams

Hank Woji stands out from the pack of singer/songwriters by conjuring a sound that is at the same time richly textured and intimate. Woji evokes the best elements of Arlo Guthrie and Cat Stevens.
-Rocky Stone - Houston Music News

Woji was really good. His voice had much the timbre of Bruce Springsteen's (something about the way he slid around the notes…
-Alison Cook – The Houston Chronicle

For over 15 years, as a bassist sideman, and then later as a bandleader, Hank was a driving force in some of the Jersey Shore’s most dynamic and innovative bands, sharing the stage with such diverse artists as: Bruce Springsteen, Hot Tuna, Jimmy Cliff, The Wailers, Toots & the Maytalls, The Radiators, Jon Bon Jovi, Johnny Winter, Room Full of Blues, Johnny Johnson, The Nighthawks, John Hammond Jr, Clarence Clemmons & The Red Bank Rockers, Merl Saunders & The Rainforest Band and The Smithereens.

In March of 2001 He moved from New York City to Houston, TX and began a new phase of his music career – Singer/Songwriter. Since then Hank’s compositions have garnered him honors in numerous songwriting competitions including: The Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition, The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Contest, The SongDoor International Songwriting Contest, The South Florida Folk Festival Singer-Songwriter Competition, The Suwannee Springfest Songwriting Contest, The Dallas Songwriters Association Songwriting Contest and the Austin Songwriters Group Spring Songwriting Competition.

Hank’s latest offering is a dark portrait of the lost American Dream, painted in broad strokes on a canvas of pure Americana. Alternating between bluegrass, gospel, country, folk and good old rock & roll, American Dreams is a tour de force from a passionate songwriter just hitting his stride. Addressing many of the hot-button issues of our time, “American Dreams” pulls no punches and asks no quarter. Graced with stellar performances from some of Houston’s finest, each song takes on a life of it’s own within the context of the singular theme – What is the American Dream and where has it gone?
