About Holy Week

As I entered into Holy Week this year, I realized that over the years, I've written songs here and there that are about my faith and I thought I should collect them into an EP to share with you during Holy Week. I have a hard time expressing my faith without sliding into cliches, so these songs you have here on this EP were the ones that I thought ended up being a cut above the rest.

This isn't a "Christian Rock" album, nor is it an attempt to ram religion down anyone's throat. Its just my humble attempt to document, through song, my faith and doubts over the years.

All compositions by Grant Thomas

All instruments played by Grant Thomas unless otherwise noted

The first song, ALL I WANNA DO is based on Psalm 118 which is the song that was sung as Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey. This day is now celebrated on the Sunday before Easter and is called Palm Sunday.

This song appeared on FOUR TRACK WONDERLAND and features drums by Drew Littell.

MESSIAH is a song that got sung at a lot of shows in the Walter Boyd days, but never got officially recorded. It also describes Palm Sunday but then moves through the Passion and ends with the Ascension.

NEAR THE CROSS is a traditional hymn that I arranged and did some lyric tweaking.

O SACRED HEAD is another hymn with words dating back to the 14th century. I rewrote the melody for this version.

GOOD FRIDAY appeared on FOUR TRACK WONDERLAND and features harmony by my friend Javier Ancalle.

BENEATH THE EARTH is the only truly new song. It is an ambient piece that represents Holy Saturday and at the end you can hear the tomb cracking open.
