About Soul Pop Rocks

Soul. Pop. Rock. To anyone who hears the freshman effort from emerging artist Glenton Davis, they will know that these three words are more than just genres. They are ways of expression. Glenton defies genre and stereotype with the disc, saying that he hopes "to make music that is honest, true, and fun. My favorite music is music that speaks to me, that doesn't necessarily try to be anything but itself. With all of the music I create, I try to do just that". Soulpoprocks does this well, for hit singles like "Alone" and "Love Me Too" offer intimate looks at Glenton's views on love and loss. At the same time, they are fresh, a new school take on old school soul. That is what makes Glenton so unique. He has the ability to take established ideas, the usual ups and downs we face in life, and portray them honestly, with a refreshing energy and spirit. It would only make sense, then, for Glenton to produce what will be a memorable set. His whole life has been a series of lessons for this moment. Aged 22, Glenton is a singer/songwriter and pianist whose savvy will carry him to great places. Growing up in Montgomery, Alabama, Glenton used his childhood as a training ground, for he began working as a professional in the industry at the tender age of 14 with producers in Atlanta, Georgia. After some trying times, Glenton took matters into his own hands, producing, composing, and arranging himself- in addition to being an acclaimed singer/songwriter. His talent and tenacity took him far, for by age 17, Glenton had already moved to Atlanta to work with executives from Us/J Records on a demo recording. At the same time, Glenton was working with the likes of famed music agent Jim Halsey, illustrious songwriters like Tomi Martin, who have penned hits for Michael Jackson and TLC, to name a few, and garnering respect and praise from top individuals at ASCAP. By 18, Glenton was a veteran performer at venues throughout the Eastern Seaboard, as well as working with international producer Robert Jazayeri (Britney Spears, All Saints, Salt n' Pepa). Glenton graduated from Yale University in 2007. His extensive studies in classical music (vocal performance, conducting, and composition) and tenure as musical director of The Yale Alley Cats, helped him diversify his knowledge and talent in the arts. Glenton also performed at the legendary Toad's Place on numerous occasions. He has performed in over twenty countries, has lent his voice to recordings for EMI songwriters, and has collaborated with the likes of Sears Holding Company, Land's End, and has appeared on the WB television series The Gilmore Girls, on which he sang. Expect a lot of great things from this young talent.
