About Circles & Squares
A native New Yorker of Italian heritage and a child prodigy cellist, Francis Rodino survived a solid classical music education in both the US and Italy, before being bitten by the Rock ‘n’ Roll bug and arriving in London as a guitar playing singer/songwriter. Paying his dues and honing his writing and performing skills on the London club and pub scene, Francis built up a powerful live presence with his band of some of the capital’s finest rock musicians resulting in a solid and loyal fanbase. After raising a recording budget from both his fans and the public via the SellaBand online platform, Francis and producer/engineer Steve Bush (The Stereophonics, Corinne Bailey Rae) began an intensive eight months of recording sessions, working at Rockfield Studios,
Mark Angelo Studios and Steve’s own Scrubs Clubhouse.
The resulting album is Circles And Squares, Francis’ debut album release. Featuring ten original compositions that are solidly constructed around Francis’ powerful and emotive vocals, Steve Bush’s superb production creates an overall sound that’s a fusion of alternative and modern rock, full of strong radio friendly choruses and hooks. The powerful two opening tracks Burn and One Love immediately establish that this is intense and emotional music with strong storytelling that’s accessible to anyone. Other highlights are the and dynamic and moving Blood and the breakneck speed and excitement of Drink.

“I'm not into male vocalists unless they are very good and grab me despite my prejudice. I found this artist because he added me on twitter. Good stuff.”

“Probably the best rock song you're going to hear this year, Burn is the opening track from the Francis Rodino album 'Circles And Squares'. Francis' voice is superb, and the arrangement builds from a solo acoustic guitar to all hell braking loose. And the middle 8 is a classic in itself! By the time you get to the end of the song you've been through just about everything a great rock song should throw at you. Then you want to go and play it all over again.”
