This was the second, CD, of my career, and the first! solo. I wanted to get back to my roots. It was also, the first, in my recording, both bass and guitar, myself. I busted my ass getting my chops back,and honestly, I had my moments. But! I felt, I fell short, in my own,abilities at times. Mostly, because I hadn't played, bass or guitar for 8 year's I had been doing,the front man thing,for a long time. Which,is why,I asked,my Brother,Jonnie Zaentz and my good friend and great bass player, former member, of our own previous band, Dirty Mind's, Baron Chase, to come in on a few tune's and add some flavor and spice. This CD was hard for me, for I was still coming out of the break up of my own band, and for anyone,one who's been there!, you know! what I mean!!!!! Its worse, than one lady leaving you! Or your dog dying. Times that to the 20th power.... Which,by the way 2 of the songs were written to certain persons involved! Welcome to your life! and Burning Bridges! Those 2 song's, say everything, I ever needed to say, to those indiviuals. One quick note ! I forgot to put on the CD the dedication of 'Animals in Shoes" to the village of Salvadorian's who were shamelessly slaughtered by there own government, for reason's,someone knows why! I'm very proud of the bass,playing,I did,on Serena's Song, That was a magic moment for me. It was also the song that wound, up having Troy Luccketta Playing all the drums. Originally, he was only, brought in,.to play drums on Burning Bridge's. Which I must say was a phenomenal Drum track!.Man can that guy play,some kick ass drums! Anyway! after he was done, he asked to hear,some of the other track's while he was packing up his kit. He liked what he heard, asked who else,I had in mind for drums? Which, I wasnt sure yet. Troy, preceded to make a convincing argument, well! actually! he pleaded his case, to give him a chance, to play on the other song's. I quote! no one ever let's him play, on other stuff, he has a rep, as a hard rock player, loved what I was doing, please! give him, one chance. If! I don't like it, then I dont have to even pay him. The song he basically auditioned for the rest of the CD, was! Serena's Song! Which of course blew our mind. Wow! what a Great! performance! Troy!! As they say the rest is history.. It was at this time I was becoming aware that the energy of the song's, I had so far! Were all in the same vibe. So now,with Troy on board we worked out together, four more tune's to balance the cd out. trk 4 Save It, trk 5 Animal's in Shoes trk 12 Been Too Long.. Those are the 4 live cut's, we did trk 11 P.O.P doe's anyone know what that stands for? If you do you get a cookie! together. Animal's In Shoe's was literally rescued by Troy himself. We were rehearsing,for Save it,while, waiting for Baron, to set up his rig. I was messing around with feed back,on my amp when I got into this cool groove. Troy leaped up on the drum's started playing around. We just fell,into this crazy vibe. Since the rhythm guitar, was pulsing,this a bottomy beat, I told Baron, to take the middle, with that latin, bass line thats on the song today,I could hear it in my head. Well long story short,next day,I couldn't,remember,what I had been doing. Low and behold, Troy wipe's,out,his hand held, little,tape recorder, and all I can say is thank's Troy. When that song was finished it made me cry.. More than once! This CD was a good start for me. I went back to basic's,recorded my acoustic stuff and explored different feels. Strange Twist to this story though, It looked like I had found my next new band! Only to lose Troy,when Tesla called him shortly after the CD was finished,to say they were getting back together for a reunion tour. That! was a hard pill,to swallow,and Troy was difficult person to replace. After 2 month's of Drum Audition's and no one coming close, I said forget it. And pushed on. There was more music to write and my journey,obviousloy, wasnt to end there.It was to go where I had never been before,!,! On to the next CD..Finding my different selve's and on and on and on, I'll never stop being creative, never!
