About Detriment Of a Fantasy

Hey everyone! Sorry it took so long, but it took what it took. I had a nasty turn at death's bed. Seems my ruptured Sigmoid colon took priority over being able to finish within the time frame I had set. Damn Sigmoid! Who in the hell does it think it is? The original title was to be “Kindred Spirit's” That changed, along with my attitude of life. I surely didn't see that coming. After a few crucial moments and a “may the force please be with me”, I must say that in the end, it was all worth it. This is, truly, my best work yet! I like where I went. I strived for newness, in my rhythms, tones, and vocal approaches. These songs were picked out of close to 30 different tracks. I really wanted a flow. Like a good roller coaster ride. I went through a whole lot, of blood, sweat, and mucous! Oh yeah and tears as well with my heart and soul. This Album in general was a whole lot of fun to play and sing on. I also was blessed to play and work with a variety of great drummer's Paulo Baldi and John Mader, who is simply a Mother Fucker! In case you didn’t realize it, that’s a good thing! There was one track by Manas, a kick ass Reggae drummer. He will be on a few more tracks on the next CD, all this along with bass players Liam Hanrahan, & my long time friend and former band member, Baron Chase. My goal was to play as much as I really could, with the guitars I did, not ego wise, mind you, I really was going for a certain sound. I just wanted to do that, at least once. Same with bass, I would have preferred other musicians to be on more tracks, but I kept running into the same problem. I wanted them to be more free, and yet they would play safe, something about rock. Or the perception of! Poor guys got so beat up in their past bands, they struggled to be fluid. I still got keeper tracks from the few they played on. Music!, should never feel, like work. It was so hard, for them to stretch out, I made a decision, at that point to play, the rest myself. It’s kind of funny, same difference in my Fathers day. It's hard to believe in this day and age there are still musicians and engineers, who think bass should just be felt and not heard. that's a whole lotta crap!!! I want to hear it too.. Comes from Guitar players, who always crank up their low end, It’s a bad habit, from days of playing by themselves, because they want, to feel!!! what they are playing, But in a band environment, it kills the sonic low end so it just becomes mush. Shame on all of you who commit this SIN!!!!! Anyway enough of what I think. I'd love to hear what you peep's think. I'm just glad, to be around, to finish, and go for a few more. This CD for me was about no compromises and that I did not do. The key for me was to surround myself with those who saw and understood me and my vision. These are the results. Melodies within melodies, the energy of rock, and the sensuality of funk and soul.. Ummm………….sounds, ..........edible!??........... Peace and good will towards one another.life is truly too short by the time most people know it, Feel the Vibe, It's Awesome! Music is a powerful thing and can change the world. Or one person. It’s certainly done that for me!
