Dion Roy

Dion Roy is a fresh face in the New York acoustic music scene.

A singer, songwriter, guitarist and composer, Dion Roy’s first encounter with a guitar was in 9th grade, when he quickly taught himself to play bass in order to join his friends’ band.

Born in Namibia and raised in South Africa, Dion later relocated to New Jersey, but he’s a true New Yorker at heart.
Throughout his twenties, he played as a bassist in several bands which lead him to tour throughout the North-Eastern college circuit and perform in various New York City venues (The Bitter End, The Luna Lounge, Pianos, Kenny’s Castaways, etc).

In 2004, he founded AMP3 Public Relations, a boutique arts & entertainment PR firm in Manhattan. But he’s currently focused on launching his career as a singer/songwriter, with his first album due in Fall ’08.

The album is titled Come Back Around and features brooding tracks about the ups and downs of a dysfunctional relationship and love that’s gone sour. His music is a combination of heartfelt and introspective lyrics, with unforgettable hooks that stay with you long after the music stops.

His influences include the late singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley, British piano rock band Keane and American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails.
