dep

dep is the solo project of Danny Peck. dep produces glitch and cut-up electronic techniques that include acoustic instruments, analog equipment, circuit bending, piano, accordions, and other field recordings.

He started working as dep in 2004, self-releasing collections of tracks created between 1995-2003 before releasing the full-length album nothing to undo : nothing to redo on the Myuzyk.net label in 2008. The LP "combined field recordings of his immediate surroundings as well as programmed beats and instrumentation to create a personal and involving album." It houses explorations into techno and down tempo with attributes of glitch, distortion, loud and quiet, artificial and real altogether across thirteen tracks.

In 2009, dep released Recordings from a Toy Phone, a circuit bending experiment involving a $7 toy telephone that he had dissected and modified the circuit board of to create the instruments within the 7 track ambient sound scape.

Recordings from a Toy Phone was followed quickly by the piano/vocal soundscape ambient album "quietlight." "it is actually one of my very favorite recordings that I've ever done. It's simple, meditative, and quiet."

Two more albums are planned for release in 2009.
