About Here Comes The Bright Light
David Hopkins was born in Dublin, Ireland. He was given the talent for writing incredible songs. Formerly with the Irish band Lir, LiR had a top 10 ten hit with David's song "In A Day" and #1 Alternative album "Magico Magico". They played sold out tours of the States - playing showcases with acts like Sinead O'Connor and Jeff Buckley and were signed in America to the independent label, What Are Records?.David moved to San Francisco. He toured the U.S. in several different bands landing opening slots for legends The Who and Iggy Pop, among others.
Ready to further develop the sound he created with LiR into a more individual style, he released his first solo record, Here Comes the Bright Light which has garnered some pretty impressive reactions from the press. Here's what they are saying...
"a dauntingly magnificent album"
"David Hopkins music is like the friend you must have with you at all times. Never let it leave your side. You might be inclined to find that once you let it in, you'd be empty without it."
With its haunting melodies and introspective lyrics "Bright Light" makes the perfect musical companion for any fan of Radiohead, Nick Drake, Rufus Wainright, Coldplay or Belle & Sebastian while still retaining a unique style all its own.
Look out for a new album in the upcoming weeks. Here's what the press have to say about the Promo....
"David Hopkins follow up to Here Comes the Bright Light, is yet to be released, however One Dark Morning, promises the same magic found in his debut. Perhaps even more." - Plugged in Music
