About Pasión

When the music becomes poetry, the soul expands, the self glows;
It is light that shelters, provides and preserves.
In this way, the heart shall be nourished...

Darian Stavans

Evocative is a word that has been used to describe, or better said, react to the music of Darian Stavans. Evocative? One would imagine that such a music would bring to the mind and heart shared memories, but one does not necessarily share memories with an artist; one shares feelings, reflections, dreams. These are the things one finds in the music of Darian Stavans— a passage of sorts to that special place we all have deep in our souls.

The apparent simplicity of works such as interiors, passion, and poetic is powerfully touching and intensely beautiful. Captivating melodies hold our attention as their notes drop ever deeper into the soul of the listener, retrieving echoes of the human experience we all share. Our lives may be different, but our feelings are not. Stavans’ music glides us soothingly into currents of profoundly romantic reverie, pools of sunlit serenity, and occasionally into the depths of fleeting melancholy.

Stavans, the composer, imbues his music with texture: a guitar lends its sometimes earthy, sometimes airy quality to Els segons temps; whereas a lighter, more translucent harp is used to render lullabies. In making his music come alive, Stavans has also become a producer (he produced all the works featured here) and a conductor. He conducted and recorded the St. Angelis Symphony Orchestra for his works noir et blanc and prayer.

Nonetheless, Darian Stavans is first and foremost a gifted composer and pianist. His music speaks his soul and in so doing, speaks to our own. Perhaps listening to his works we might become acquainted with the artist, but it would be more accurate to say, we become reacquainted with ourselves.
--Martha Macìas.

At the end, life will behold our blooming and behind, the gathering of the souls, slowly carving their task, their mourning. On the way, only the heart... and God...
-- D.S.

MAURICIO NÁDER

Mexican pianist Mauricio Náder-Schekaibán (b. 1967) presented his first piano recital at the age of nine years old and ten years later he debuted at Mexico's Palacio de Bellas Artes as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra. Since then, he has mantained an active career, counting on 600 performances in the American continent, Europe and Asia.

His interpretative warmth, the power of his artistic personality and his ability to face an immense repertory, have led him to become one of the Latinamerican musicians who most hold the attention of the organizers of festivals and orchestras of Mexico and abroad. The critics have written:

"When Mauricio Náder plays the piano, he awakens the spirit of passion, sensuality, exaltation, energy and voluptuousity" (Life & Style Magazine); "As a pianist, Mauricio achieves an exceptional interpretative quality, supported by a wide knowledge of his instrument and an impeccable and pure technic, which allow him to emulate a refined singing voice, a lament, a sigh or even a shivering scream" (Prof. Ramón Montes de Oca† -Director of the Contemporary Music Series at the Festival Internacional Cervantino).

Winner of the First Prize in the International "Bartók-Kabalevsky" Piano Competition (1996), Mauricio Náder has offered numerous master classes and has served as a juror for many national and international competitions. His recordings include piano and chamber music by composers ranging from the Baroque to the Contemporary. At present he also appears on a regular basis as a member of the Concert Artsists Group, managed by the National Fine Arts Institute of Mexico

Mr. Náder held musical studies at the National Music Conservatory (Mexico), the University of Houston (BM) and the Eastman School of Music (MM), where he was unanimously awarded the Performers' Certificate. His teachers were Carlos Bueno, María Teresa Rodríguez, Nancy Weems and Anton Nel.
