D. Lloyd…born Daryl La Rosa Dewayne Lloyd in Marks Mississippi, April 23rd, “D”… his title of preference. It all began in those early years when he noticed an old upright piano that sat in his grandmother’s living room. One day he witnessed his two aunts playing the piano and they made things seem so simple. He says,” And that’s when I fell in love with the music. It was during this time period I taught myself to play basic cords, listen to the radio and play and sing along with every song I could.” “D” wrote his first song at the age of nine and titled it “She Is New”, for a new classmate. It was the first time he wrote a song about a girl and sang it to her in the back of the classroom. Rooted in the richness of the southern church, he honed his talents and trained his voice, as best he could, to be as unique as possible.

“D”… journeyed to New York at age 14 to pursue his dream of becoming a complete musical talent. That is a composer, lyricist, producer and vocalist. He attended Dodd Jr. High School, Freeport, LI and after graduating he attended Freeport High School and shortly transferred to Roosevelt High School, Roosevelt, LI. There he met a young lady who became his first girl friend and inspired him to write poems and love letters about romance. After graduation he and cousin Dee formed a musical group, Shilo, concentrating on Rap/R & B. They received positive support from the local communities. However, “D” returned to Mississippi to search for a deeper understanding of what it is he is destined to do in this world of music. After a short stay in Mississippi “D” returned to New York, to explore the different aspects of the entertainment industry. He and longtime friend and producer Soul, formed DENA Entertainment Group which specialized in songwriting and music production. It was through this production team that “D’s” demo CD caught the ear of Walker Enterprises of NY, the managing team behind the legendary Grady Tate. The CD was reviewed and accepted by WENY and passed on to Founder and CEO of PER-VOC, Inc., Grady Tate. Grady quickly recognized the potential of this unique vocal talent and immediately signed him to his production company PER-VOC, Inc., as a new artist in development.

“D’s” work ethic is influenced by such great talents as Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, the late Barry White and the late great Luther Vandross. While struggling to make his mark and sharpen his talents, “D” performed at the Black Expo in Gary, Indiana and In addition he won the famous Amateur Night Talent Show in New York City 3 weeks in succession. It is said “his incredible vocal range and the warm baritone voice cradles each lyric like rose gathering dew on a misty morning... “

It is expected that this humble and spiritual young man blessed with a multitude of talent will surely make his mark in this business of music.


With his stimulating and electrifying vocal resonance, he is destined to be a new and positive voice to be enjoyed…and most of all treasured.
