About Primary Colors EP

"Although they are a fairly new band in the musical epicenter called Brooklyn, Cavalier Rose’s sound could fool anyone into thinking they’ve been a professional band for decades. They categorize themselves under the “rock” genre, but it’s obvious that this four-piece band (half male, half female) touches on so much more with your first listen. With Sia-like vocals that could easily slide into jazz or folk, there is a beautiful combination of grooving bass lines, theatrical drums that can crash or simmer with just the right amount at the right moment, and strong guitar chords underneath these haunting vocals.

Just two months after their formation, Cavalier Rose recorded their debut EP, "Primary Colors", and it is available to download for FREE at their website now. I’ve already downloaded mine and the entire record is nothing less than jaw-dropping."

“This is a fantastic song -- it's a meandering journey through a pretty fantastic set of lyrics, rising and falling in intensity.”

“Whoa. Lead vocals sound like a cross between the female lead vocals of De-Phazz and Kelli Dayton of The Sneaker Pimps -- smooth and precise at times, but well-edged and engaging. The melodies are clearly heavily-influenced by jazz -- brushed percussion and and pure bass keep the track moving, and crisp licks move the power up a notch. The last two minutes of the track see a rise in intensity and emotion, the soft and subdued vocals that start at 2'51" are quickly joined by determined, building riffs and solid backing for the lead's unique vocal style.”

“A little bit bluesy on this track. Great rhythm and I love the jangling guitar. A bit Man Man-esque. ”

“Interesting, warbling vocals. Almost hypnotic.”

“For the first 1:21 of the track, you'll love the soft drum and vocal groove. From 1:21 to 2:05 you'll start moving your head with the low-slung, crisp guitar work. From 2:05 onwards ... dude... that voice. Truly some incredible handling. The end of the track brings together all of the above for an excellent close to a stellar song.”
