Our take
"Back with another ingenious compilation of almost unrecognizable covers, Cat Power shines with raw, bluesy talent straight from Georgia (via Brooklyn)."– Amie Street Editors

“A slowed down, mellow version of the original Sinatra song. Cat Power has a way of deconstructing a song in a way that's simultaneously beautiful and a bit rough around the edges.”

“Good God it's Cat Power and I didn't even know she was on the scene! "Ramblin' (Wo)man" took hold of me gently and I felt the spirit of Janis Joplin! Vocals have it all. The band , I believe, could use a "thicker" sound. A bit on the tin sound to me. But, then again, reminicent of my gal Janis! They compliment Cat's vocals and that's good. Add a dash of compression and BOOM.
Also on, "New York", Cat Powers evokes the heavy side of NYC. I lived there on Bleecker and , at first, I thought she was off as far as the musicality and sound she chose. Then it began to all come back. Yeah...I remember times like that. I sampled 2, purchased 1 and in both, Cat Powers has that Janis Joplin heart in her vocals. Maybe channeling janis, I don't know. She's that good. have to come back and see if I can find an uptempo number ala ""Move Over". Get 'em I say. Cat Power...She's hot! ”
